Overview
John's Essentials uses large language models (LLMs) to power the AI Agent feature, available on every plan with a monthly run allowance that grows by tier. This page explains which AI systems we use, what data they see, and the limitations you should be aware of.
AI Systems We Use

Tool execution (PDF processing, image editing, file conversion) is performed entirely by deterministic, non-AI software (Ghostscript, FFmpeg, ImageMagick, etc.) on our own servers. AI is used only for understanding your instructions and planning tool sequences.
What Data LLMs Receive
When you use the AI Agent, the following may be sent to the active LLM provider:
- Your text message / instruction to the agent
- File names and metadata (not file contents, unless you explicitly ask the agent to analyse a file's content)
- Tool execution results (e.g., "PDF split into 5 pages successfully")
- Prior conversation turns in the current session (for context)
We do not send raw file bytes to LLM providers unless a specific analysis tool (e.g., OCR, document summariser) is invoked and requires it.
AI Output Limitations
AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. Specifically:
- The AI Agent may misinterpret ambiguous instructions
- Summaries, paraphrases, and grammar corrections may contain errors
- The agent may suggest an incorrect tool for a given task
- AI output should never be used as a substitute for professional legal, medical, financial, or safety advice
Always review AI-generated output before acting on it.
Human Oversight
The AI Agent is a tool assistant. It does not take actions on external systems — it only invokes tools within the John's Essentials platform on your explicit request. You remain in control at all times and can cancel any in-progress agent run.
