What Counts as a "File"
A file is any document, image, video, or other asset you upload to John's Essentials for processing. This includes:
- Input files you upload to tool pages (PDF, images, documents)
- Output files generated by our tools (processed PDFs, resized images, etc.)
- Files uploaded to the AI Agent workspace
Temporary processing artefacts (files created during tool execution) are deleted immediately after processing completes, regardless of plan tier.
How Automatic Deletion Works
A background job runs daily and permanently deletes files that have exceeded their retention window. Deletion is irreversible — we do not keep backups of user files beyond the retention period.
You will not receive a warning before automatic deletion occurs. If you need to keep a file, download it before the retention window expires.
Downgrade Behaviour
If you downgrade from Pro or Premium to a lower tier, your file retention immediately reverts to the new plan's window. Files that are now outside the window will be scheduled for deletion in the next daily cleanup run.
Manual Deletion
You can delete any file at any time from your dashboard. Manual deletion is immediate and permanent. Files deleted manually cannot be recovered.
Account Deletion
When you delete your account, all files are permanently deleted within 30 days, regardless of plan tier. This cannot be undone.
